Welcome to moves & grooves Urban Dance School
Pre-Dance Curriculum (Ages 2–4) — 45 Minutes
Pre-Dance is an introduction to movement and rhythm. The goal is to build confidence, listening skills, coordination, and joy in dance.
6-Month Outcomes
Students should be able to: - Participate safely in a group - Copy basic shapes and motions - Move to a steady beat - Follow simple class routines (line up, freeze, take turns)
Progression Criteria (to Level 1 when age-appropriate)
- Follows instructor cues with minimal redirection
- Demonstrates basic rhythm (clap/step on beat)
- Can complete a short routine (20–30 seconds) with the group
Lesson Planning Template (Pre-Dance)
- Welcome Routine (3 min): names, rules, “freeze” game
- Warm-Up (7 min): animal walks, stretches, bounce/rock
- Skill Block (10 min): 1–2 skills (jump, turn, balance, clap on beat)
- Across-the-Floor (8 min): marching, skipping, side steps
- Mini Choreo (12 min): 4–6 counts repeated; fun theme
- Cool Down + Sticker/High-Five (5 min): breathing, praise, parent note
